Recommended Users

The suggestions on how to use the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults in a parish setting can be implemented in a variety of settings. We have developed the following “rating” system with accompanying icons to quickly identify the appropriate audience.

Individual

These suggestions are ideal for the individual user. Many of the suggestions take no more than 20-30 minutes.

Small Group

These ideas are best used in a small group setting. Most of these encourage individual reflection and small-group sharing. Some of the small groups that would find these ideas useful include faith-sharing communities, prayer groups, and RCIA teams. These suggestions can be adjusted to fit a 60-90 minute session.

Leaders

These uses are directed specifically to parish leaders including parish councils, committees, and staff as well as school leaders including administration, teachers, staff, school boards, and PTA/PTO organizations. They are adapted to fill a brief prayer time (10-20 minutes) or can be used as a substantive part of a meeting.

Parishioners

These suggestions were developed with parishioners in mind. They include ideas for reflection that can be done individually, but also strongly encourage participating parishioners to gather for a large group component.

Large Group

These recommendations assume that a large group of parishioners are gathered as part of a parish mission, retreat, or day of reflection. They require a longer period of time. Anyone in the parish community can lead the session.
