How to Promote the USCCA in the Parish

The following are suggestions to supplement the ways in which your parish is promoting use of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA). They take advantage of the simplicity of simple, “old fashioned” methods and newer, Internet-based technologies.

For a printer-friendly version

  • Print business cards with information on upcoming events that will highlight the USCCA. Include the phone number of the staff person who is coordinating these events.
  • Print and mail “reminder” postcards with key event dates as well as the websites for the parish and the USCCA. Send one postcard for fall/winter events and another for spring/summer events.
  • Include a “calendar of events” on the USCCA in your parish bulletin at the start of each month. Highlight one event that will take place in the next two-three weeks. Update the calendar each month to feature the next major event. Leave additional copies in the Church vestibule or narthex.
  • Add a special section to your parish bulletin that features one chapter of the USCCA. Provide a brief summary of the topic, the subject of the story of faith, and how this topic relates to the current life and ministry of the parish. Review downloadble samples of many of the USCCA chapters that can be used in your parish bulletin.
  • Have information on and sign-up sheets at all events for small faith-sharing communities or prayer groups that will be using the USCCA.
  • Encourage each parish committee to use some of the small-group suggestions during their meetings.
  • Feature the USCCA at your parish website. Link to your parish events, these resources, or any of the online resources.
  • Set up a moderated discussion board or web log (“blog”) at your parish website where those who are using the USCCA can share their insights and reflections.
  • Make copies available for sale after Sunday Masses or in the parish office.
